Gardeners Dream Team is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for all members of our gardening crew, contractors and anyone affected by our operations. This policy sets out how the gardeners dream team approaches risk management, hazard control and ongoing safety culture. The purpose is to ensure that every task, from routine lawn care to specialised planting, is planned and executed with the wellbeing of people and protection of property in mind.

We recognise that the safety responsibilities of the Gardeners' Dream Team extend beyond simple compliance: they require active leadership, clear processes and consistently applied standards. Team leaders will demonstrate visible commitment to safety, and all employees are expected to adopt a positive safety mindset. This policy applies to all operations carried out by the garden crew and any temporary workers engaged by the organisation.

Scope and Objectives

The objectives of this Gardeners Dream Team safety policy are to prevent harm, reduce occupational risks and maintain a systematic approach to hazard control. We will: identify hazards; assess and prioritise risks; implement control measures; and review outcomes. The policy supports continuous improvement by promoting reporting, analysis and review of incidents and near-misses without fear of punitive action.

Responsibilities

Management will ensure resources are available for safe operations, including appropriate equipment, training and supervision. Supervisors and team leads are responsible for implementing safety procedures on site, while every gardener must follow safe work practices and use provided protective equipment. Visitors and third-party contractors will be informed of site-specific precautions when onsite.

Key duties include regular risk assessments, documented safe systems of work and ensuring that tools and plant are maintained. The gardeners dream team will keep records of inspections and maintenance, and will not permit the use of defective equipment. Reporting of hazards and unsafe conditions is encouraged and will be treated seriously.

Training and competence are essential. New staff will receive induction covering manual handling, machinery operation, chemical handling and emergency procedures. Ongoing training will reflect changing tasks and seasonal risks, and competence checks will be used to confirm capability for specialised activities.

Annual formal reviews and more frequent updates following significant change or incident ensure the policy remains relevant.

The gardening dream team will hold toolbox talks, safety briefings and provide accessible written information so everyone understands their role in maintaining safety. Consultation with employees about changes to procedures or equipment will be standard practice to ensure buy-in and practical risk control.
